Transition beyond Kingsbury
At each child’s year 5 review we talk to parents about the need to consider their preference for secondary school and encourage them to visit suitable schools. Visits can be facilitated by the Extended Services Manager. In year 6 children have an Autumn term review at which parents state their preference for secondary school. Once a child’s secondary placement has been agreed Kingsbury liaise with the receiving school to ensure that all relevant information is passed on. A transition review will be held early in the summer term, the receiving secondary school will be invited to attend and parents and teachers discuss a transition plan personalised to each child. Teachers from the receiving school will visit the child at Kingsbury and we support the child at visits to their new school. Once a child has transferred to their new school there is contact between the two schools early in the Autumn term to check that the transition is working smoothly.
