Autumn 1

Week 7

This week we have continued with our Autumn theme. We made our own Autumn wreathes using lentils and leaves that we had collected. We have had lots of fun making phonics potions this week and have been using our segmenting skills to find the sounds within different words in the spell recipe book!

Week 6

This week we have focussed on the story ‘Little Acorns’. We have learned about the life cycle of an oak tree and made our very own life cycle pictures. We also linked this to ourselves and made our own autumnal family trees. We have made autumn biscuits, using the scales to weigh our ingredients. We also went to Wigan Asda on the bus with Jeremy to look at the Halloween aisle and pick our pumpkins for our activities next week. We developed our independence skills by scanning items ourselves at the self serve checkout!

Week 5

This week, we have continued with our story of ‘Supertato’. We have had fun dressing up as superheroes and decoding the secret words from the Evil Pea. We have also decorated our own shopping bags and found items from a list of words within magazines, using our cutting skills to place them in the bags. We have also enjoyed using potatoes to print our own patterns!

Forest School

Week 4

This week we had a visit from Bikeability! We have had so much fun learning how to ride bikes safely. We have learned how to check our bikes and helmets as well as how to get on an off a bike appropriately. As part of our ‘My Health’ topic, we have also started to read the story ‘Supertato’ and have enjoyed some provision based around the story. We have been counting potatoes as well as making our own Supertato characters!

Week 3

This week we have been continuing with our ‘My Health’ topic and have been exploring our emotions and feelings within our focus story ‘The Colour Monster’. We have identified how we are feeling and made our very own colour monsters. We have said that our Guinea pigs help us to feel calm, we gave them a bath and changed their bedding. We have had lots of snuggles with them. We went on a community walk to Sandy Lane Park. It was a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed playing on all of the equipment. We have also had our very first Forest School session with Ruth!

Week 2

This week we have enjoyed exploring our senses as part of our ‘My Health’ topic. We read the story ‘My Five Senses’ and have had so much fun using our senses for various activities. We have had herbs in the mud kitchen and tuff trays as well as making our very own process art using spiced paints. This week has been very exciting because we now have our own Guinea pigs. We visited pets at home to buy some food as well as the supermarket for some fruit and vegetables. Our Guinea pigs are called Chewy, Oreo and Fudge.

Week 1

What a fantastic first week back! We have all missed each other very much and had lots of catching up to do. We have enjoyed playing with our resources in our new outdoor area, especially in the wonderful sunshine! As part of our ‘My Health’ topic, we have been focussing on ourselves, including what we look like and what we like about ourselves. We used bingo dabblers to make our first names and used mirrors to draw our own self portraits. In life skills we are making our own pasta in sauce which was delicious!
