Autumn Term 1

Wow what an amazing week we’ve had settling in to our new class!  We have had so much fun getting to know each other and exploring what we like.  We had lots of fun getting messy, playing together and even had a birthday party!

This week was full of outdoor fun. The children got involved with decorating our playground as a part of life skills. We really enjoyed a sensory story ‘Learning to fly’. We have been mastering our skills in baking and had a lot of fun throughout the week. Can wait to start another!

We have had a very busy week in Shell’s class this week. On Monday we went on our educational visit to Southport. We enjoyed a stroll down Lord Street looking at all of the different shops and got to buy some items we needed for class. We continued with our sandwhich making, biscuit baking and gardening in our life skills sessions. We collected some conkers and fallen leaves for our Autumn art work. Finally we ended the week with a lovely calming sensory afternoon full of massage, foot and hand spas and sensory play.

On Monday we had so much fun exploring and playing in Forest School.

We had lots of fun in our music session this week exploring how different materials affect the sounds instruments make. We used gloop, water, leaves and rice with different percussion instruments.

As always we enjoyed our sensory baking session, this half term we have been making shortbread biscuits.  We are getting very good at remembering the ingredients and what we need to do.  This week the boys even got involved with cleaning up practicing the skills of washing up and sweeping.

We are enjoying our weekly gardening sessions learning about planting, weeding and looking after plants! This week we have had some new toys donated so we had lots of fun playing with them in the continuous provision!

We had a lovely time on our educational visit to Roby Mill Pumpkin Patch.  We spent lots of time looking at the different coloured pumpkins, comparing the sizes, jumping in muddy puddles and looking for fun photo spots hidden in the field.  We bought some pumpkins to use back in class with everyone choosing one.

We made Jelly Playdough this week using jelly crystals.  We had lots of fun mixing the ingredients then watching it turn from a liquid to more solid in the microwave.  We then used our playdough in our fine motor session.

We really enjoyed our musical communication session this week. We practiced the songs I’m a little tea pot and once I caught a fish, popped and blew bubbles and practiced the core words stop and go with the elastics from the magic bag!

We have had lots of fun this week looking at Halloween across all of our sessions. We particularly enjoyed baking and eating our Halloween biscuits.
