Spring 2

Week 6

We have had an eggtastic week this week! We have made Easter cards, carefully following the visuals and then we wrote a message for our families inside. We visited St Paul’s church on Tuesday afternoon and explored the stations of the cross. We made Easter baskets and designed our own Easter bunny or chick to decorate it with. We finished the week by making chocolate nests.

Mel’s Class would like to wish you all a Happy Easter and we hope you have a lovely break.

Week 5

This week we have continued with our ‘Spring’ topic with a focus on ‘mini beasts’. We have enjoyed learning all about different mini beasts and have sorted them into groups which have wings/no wings and legs/no legs. We have made our own delicious desserts with chocolate mousse, crumbled biscuits and ‘worms’. We explored the different habitats around school and found some mini beasts to look at closely. We finished our week by having a wonderful walk to the library to find some books about Spring and mini beasts.

Week 4

This week we have continued with our Spring topic. We used the litter pickers to ‘Spring Clean’ our local community including our school grounds. We collected so much litter and everywhere looked so much better afterwards! We were very lucky to have a visit to the cinema to watch Paw Patrol and the Mighty Pups. It was so good to get out on the bus and we had a great time! We have enjoyed lots of phonics activities this week also, check out our Pac-Man phonics tray!

Week 3

We have had a wonderful week in Mel’s Class. We have continued with our Spring topic, making our own butterfly cakes as well as looking at how to tell the time to o’clock! On Thursday it was World Book Day and we took part in a sensory story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. It was so much fun! On Friday we invited our Mums into class for the afternoon and we’re able to enjoy lots of lovely activities. We even presented them with the cards and gifts we had made this week.

Week 2

This week we have continued with our ‘Spring’ topic and our story ‘The Cautious Caterpillar’. We made our very own cress caterpillars and have enjoyed watching the cress sprout this week. We made waffles again, adding chocolate chips into the mix which was absolutely delicious! We have been developing our life and independence skills by using the iron this week too. Form an orderly queue if your ironing pile is overflowing because Mel’s class are AMAZING at ironing! On Thursday afternoon we had so much fun on our sensory colour run. It was messy, fun and fabulous!

Week 1

This week we have started our ‘Spring’ topic and have been exploring ‘The Cautious Caterpillar’. We have had such a wonderful week with lots of wonderful activities including number sequencing, 1:1 correspondence and money skills. We have been superstars with our phonics and had lots of fun pressing stamps into the caterpillar coloured play dough! We are very lucky to have battle ropes in our outdoor area and have been doing lots of heavy muscle work with them. Children are definitely better at them than staff! We finished our week by walking to our local Aldi to buy some pizza and ice cream as a special treat for snack.
