Week 5- Our story this week was ‘The best dress ever’. We have been learning all about the three aliens from the story Zid, Yoff and Mab. We’ve been designing our very own dress and talked about being kind like in the story. We have also been enjoying writing in the ‘alien gloop’, looking at the different letters of the alphabet. We made our very own alien drinks this week, by choosing which recipe to make. We used measuring cups to measure out the different juices. This was great for our fine motor skills. We ended the week with a trip to Hutton park and Rainford park, where we practised our gross motor skills and our turn taking skills.

Week 4- This week, our story has been “Back to Earth with a Bump”. We have continued our space theme and started the week off by making out ver own ‘moon’ painting, using tinfoil to create ‘craters’ on the moon. We have also enjoyed some phonics games this week on the interactive whiteboard to help with our early reading skills. We’ve enjoyed some fine motor activities this week, using the tweezers to put the stars in the bowls. We’ve also enjoyed some turn taking game and some calming/sensory activities including using the foot spa which we really enjoyed.

Week 3- We have had a coronation themed week this week, in honour of King Charles III. We spoke about King Charles III and how he will become the King on Saturday. We had a coronation tea party, where we made our own sandwiches and biscuits. We’ve also enjoyed lots of nice coronation themed play. We have been doing some early reading this week, including phonics bingo and we really enjoyed a coronation themed bingo where we had to listen to the different sounds and identify the picture on the interactive whiteboard. We ended the week with a trip to Aldi and Rainford Park.

Week 2- This week our story has been ‘The dinosaur who pooped a planet’. We have done lots of different activities this week involving dinosaurs. We have been enjoy lots of messy play, ice play and some dinosaur gross motor throwing games outside. We went on a dinosaur hunt outside which was great fun! We have been practising our fine motor skills this week with two sessions of dough disco, cutting skills and some baking. We particularly enjoyed making dinosaur fossils this week out of salt dough and talked about what a fossil is. We’ve also been practising using pegs this week to match the correct number of dinosaurs on the cards.

Week 1- We’ve had a lovely first week back. We’ve also welcome a new friend into Kathryn’s class. We have been reading our new story ‘Aliens love underpants’. We’ve been using our oral sensory skills to create our very own alien. We’ve also been practising our life skills and fine motor skills by pegging out underpants on the washing line outside which was great fun! We’ve also started our new life skill session and this term we are going to be cooking spaghetti hoops/beans on toast. We have been having a go at reading some real and alien words and some of us practising writing the words in the tray of glitter. We ended the week with a trip to Dobbies and Rainford park which was great fun!
