Autumn Term 1

Week 6- We’ve had a great week this week doing lots of nice halloween activities, linked to our halloween sensory story. We started the week making ‘terrifying tarts’. We’ve loved lots of messy play this week, including jelly play, spaghetti play and lots of fine motor activities. We really enjoyed making fizzy potions in the pumpkins and we watched how it bubbled really high. We loved going to the light room this week and playing on the ‘magic carpet’.

Forest School Friday

Week 5- This week, we have had a lovely ‘autumn’ themed week. We started the week reading a story called ‘Autumn’ and have been using our our 5 senses to explore all things autumn! We made some jam tarts from the story and thought they were very yummy! We loved playing with the frozen autumn bowls where we had to try and use the toy hammers and spades to break the ice. We had a great time at swimming and have been enjoying going on the bikes. We did our first dough disco session this week which helps with our fine and gross motor skills. We will be doing this weekly.

Week 4- This week we have been learning about different types of families. We have been talking about which people are in our families and learnt the Makaton sign for family. We also enjoyed lots of nice animal related activities on Tuesday as part of ‘World Animal Day’. We enjoyed a sensory story of ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and loved re enacting the story in the tuff tray afterwards. We have also been doing some nice space activities for National space week and enjoyed making some lovely star biscuits. We ended the week with a trip out on the mini bus and enjoyed pumpkin picking.

Week 3- This week we have been learning all about emotions. We enjoyed a lovely sensory story about ‘The Colour Monster’. We explored the different emotions within the story. We have also been learning about Rosh Hashanah and made some yummy apple cupcakes and made our own Sukkah’s. As part of National recycling week, we have been busy making some water bottle fish to hang up in our classroom. We have also been enjoying doing lots of messy play.

On Friday we had Forest School! We had so much fun making potions and rolling conkers. It was our first time exploring in the Forest School area. Even though it was raining we loved it! We splashed in puddles and watched the rain fall from the canopy. The day ended with a story around the first circle.

Week 2- This week we have been learning about our 5 senses. We have enjoyed lots of different senses activities including trying different foods and feeling different textures. We particularly liked going on a senses walk through the different trays outside. We used words such as rough and soft to describe the different textures. We enjoyed going out on the mini bus this week. We went to Rainford park. We also had a great time swimming and can’t wait to go again next week!

Week 1- Wow! What a great first week we have had in Kathryn’s class! We have been enjoying exploring our new classroom and spending time with our new staff. We’ve been to soft play, the light room and even a walk to the shops to buy ingredients to make pancake faces. We also enjoyed going on a trip to the park.
