At Kingsbury we have a successful signing choir which we share with Brookfield Park. At Kingsbury we believe in Total Communication approach therefore we teach the children Makaton so many of our songs are Makaton, however we have learned some songs that are in British Sign Language. Just like teaching a child to speak singing is a great opportunity to learn new words and signs. We use popular songs and give the children opportunities to choose songs that they would like to learn. The choir has been really successful and we have performed at Christmas plays and Celebration Assemblies. We use Singing Hands to help us to learn new signs and songs. The children love learning the signs and singing to their favourite songs and it also gives the children the opportunity to socialise with the children from Brookfield Park.
