Spring Term 1
Week 5
This week, our story was called ‘The Rabbit Problem’ and we have enjoyed lots of bunny themed activities including mark making with carrots, using blocks to measure different sized rabbits and making a carrot and orange smoothie. We also had a visit from Kathryn’s Class and had some carrots and hummus followed by some rabbit yoga and songs! On Monday we went on an educational visit to the library and enjoyed browsing through the books as well as selecting some favourites to read in a quiet area. They even had a Peter Rabbit themed den for us to sit in!
Week 4
This week we have been celebrating the Lunar New Year and particularly exploring Chinese culture and traditions. We enjoyed a sensory story called ‘My First Chinese New Year’ and have participated in lots of activities linked to the parts of the story. We made our own Chinese drums and had a parade around school with Kathryn’s class, we made Chinese hats in Forest School and decorated them with natural materials and we even made our own blossom pictures. We have developed our independence skills by making our own rice pudding and cooking and eating a Chinese banquet.
Week 3
This week we have been continuing with our sensory story ‘Charlie Crow in the Snow’. We have explored the story using props and have made our own bear dens, we even made our own crispy marshmallow snowmen! Each week we are going to be making our own sandwiches and this was our second week, our spreading skills are fantastic! We also went on a trip to Bamber Bridge park to develop our gross motor skills on all of their play equipment. We have also had lots of fun with ice and snow this week!
Week 2
This week the children had a super special treat and got taken to the cinema to watch Strange World and then for lunch at McDonalds whilst the new classroom got ready for them. The children have settled into our new room wonderfully. This week we made our own sandwiches!
Week 1
Happy New Year! We have had a lovely first week back. We have enjoyed making some process art pictures, exploring colour mixing, textures and patterns. We had so much fun on our first swimming session this week too! We have been getting ready to move into our brand new classroom and we are all very excited!
