Summer term 2

This term our topic is called ‘Water water everywhere’. 

Week 7- This week we have enjoyed lots of lego play! We have been playing with different types of lego and have build some amazing creations! We have also been making toast this week and cupcakes. We have enjoyed lots of turn taking games, including playing different games on the interactive whiteboard. What a lovely last week! Have a great summer everyone! 

Week 6- This week we have continued our story ‘The undersea cleaning spree’. We have enjoyed some more recycling games this week, looking at different materials. We have been practising our fine motor skills this week, cutting out different pictures and putting them in the correct recycling bin. We have also enjoyed lots of turn taking games on the interactive whiteboard. We made some pizza bagels this week which were very yummy! 

Forest School

Week 5- This week, our story is ‘The undersea cleaning spree’. We have been learning all about recycling and why we should do it. We went out into the local community litter picking this week and we found a lot of rubbish! We spoke about what different materials the items we found were made from. We’ve also enjoyed lots of fun out on the sensory playground this week, working in our gross motor and our turn taking skills. We’ve been identifying some different initial sounds in our phonics games and some of us had a go at reading some CVC words! We ended the week with our final class trip of the year to Blackpool zoo. We loved seeing the different animals and had a great day. 

Week 4- We have continued with our story this week ‘Starry eyed Stan’. We enjoyed making our own singing school where we got to practice using a real microphone and sang different songs and played different instruments. We have also been working on our ‘satpin’ phonics this week, looking at different pictures and identifying which sound they start with. We’ve been busy making some bath salts ready to sell at the Summed Fayre next week and some of us helped to write some of the labels. We have enjoyed lots of crafts this week and used celery to paint fish pictures which was great fun! 

Forest School

Week 3- This week we celebrated the Summer Solstice. We painted our own sun pictures which looked great. We also made ‘Stone henge’ out of biscuits and icing which was tricky but great fun! We have continued with our under water theme this week and have been doing lots of nice under water themed activities. We have been practising our early reading skills, matching pictures to the correct words. We have also enjoyed playing with the new fish toys and fishing rods, where we have been practising our turn taking skills and communication skills. We ended the week with a trip to Hutton park and McDonald’s! 

Week 2- This week, we have continued with our story ‘A day at the seaside’. We have been busy making lots of crafts this week, including starfish decorations and salt dough starfish for our provision. We have also enjoyed some baking this week, where we made ‘crab cupcakes’. We’ve been working on our turn taking a lot this week, sharing resources including playing on the interactive whiteboard which we love. We ended the week with a lovely Father’s Day afternoon, where we had some of our dads in class with the children. We hope you liked your Father’s Day cards ☺️. 

Forest School

Week 1- This week we have started our new story ‘A day at the seaside’. We have had lots of beach themed continuous provision this week. We have loved making our own beach within the classroom. We have been practising our fine motor skills this week using scissors to cut out different items we would take to the beach. We spoke about what clothing we would wear at the beach and the children we good at identifying why we wouldn’t wear winter clothing there. We also celebrated ‘World Ocean Day’ and spoke about what an ocean is and what animals might live there. We created some lovely artwork using paints. We ended the week with a trip out to Happy Mount Park in Morecambe. We loved playing on the splash park and enjoyed a picnic with our friends.
