Summer Term 1
Week 5
This week we have continued with our ‘Out of this World’ topic and read the story ‘The Best Dress Ever’. We had a sensory story and Mel turned a sheet into a dress before our eyes! We have also enjoyed Call and Response sessions to help us remember and retell the story. We made our very own cocktails using fruit juice and explored measuring using cups, 1/2 cups and 1/4 cups.
We also enjoyed a visit to Apple Cast farm this week. We fed the animals and had lots of fun on the park.
Week 3
This week has been very exciting as we have been learning all about King Charles III and his Coronation. We have learned God Save The King in Makaton as well as playing instruments along to the rhythm. We used finger prints to paint our own flags and prepared our very own street party with Emma’s Class. We cooked our own food using our independence and life skills and also opened all of the packets and set up the tables ourselves too!
We were very lucky to have all 5 of our caterpillars turn into butterflies and we set them free this week. Some of us even got to have a little hold of them. What a wonderful experience!
God Save The King by Mels Class
Week 2
This week we have explored the story ‘The Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet’. The children have absolutely loved this story. We had lots of dinosaur small world role play in Forest school and have even practised our cutting skills with a knife and fork by cutting up dinosaur poop. We made our very own name rockets as well as developing our counting and adding skills with our dinosaurs. We even read a shopping list for the dinosaur and found some items within catalogues to put on our space blanket.
Week 1
This week we have started our topic of ‘Out of this World’. We looked at the story ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ and have enjoyed lots of activities linked to it. We have practised hanging washing out on a washing line using pegs, working on our fine motor skills in the process! We have also looked at different patterns that the aliens might like and have decorated our own underpants which we also had lots of fun wearing on our heads and bodies for our underpants obstacle race in PE. To develop our independence skills further, we have been ironing some clothes and folding washing. We have even been reading the names of the aliens that visited our classroom in spaceships!
