Autumn

22.12.23

Merry Christmas everyone.

15th December

Over the last few weeks, we have worked hard practicing for our Christmas play, "T’was the Night Before Christmas." The children dedicated themselves to learning the Makaton signs, words, and lyrics. On Tuesday they performed in front of a large crowd. Well done, everyone!

We also had our Christmas party and decorated our classroom.

8th December

We have centered our week around Christmas, and our story. The children enjoyed our multi-sensory story, 'Are You an Elf? As a school we visited St. Paul’s church for their Christmas light switch on!

December 1st

This marks the end of our "All About Me" theme but we’re excited to start learning about Christmas. On Thursday, we visited St. Paul's Church to decorate our tree. The children explored the church and particularly enjoyed the musical instruments.

24th November

Some of the children in class participated in a GLD multi skills and orienteering event at our school this week and enjoyed working with children from other schools. The children have put in a lot of effort this week to get ready for our Christmas show.  We will be basing our learning around Autumn for one more week, but this is the last week we will be reading An Autumn Sound Story.

Thank you all so much for the donations and support regarding the flood this week. This week has been our final week learning about our bodies. We look forward to continuing our All About Me topic and will be learning about our senses.

3rd November

What a blast it has been to be back. The children have thoroughly enjoyed our eerie week on Funny Bones and Halloween.

20th October

After the break, we will switch to All About Me Our Body from All About Me Emotions, which we just concluded. We'll be reading Funny Bones by Allan Ahlberg. Have a lovely half term break!

13th October

The children have loved our Colour Monster multi-sensory story and we continue to centre our activities around it. Everyone had fun creating their own Colour Monster and labelling the emotions. In addition, we discussed several coping mechanisms for managing certain emotions.

6th October

We have had an action packed week and have loved our multi-sensory story The Colour Monster. We have based our learning around the book and also spent time learning about Autumn.

29th September

This week we have continued to learn about our friends and family. We have focused our activities around Monkey Puzzle. Next week our focal point will be Colour Monster.

We have also spent time in our local community learning how to buy snack from the shops.

22nd September

The children have loved our multi sensory Monkey Puzzle. It lends well to our current topic about families.  We have focused many of our activities around this book.

15th September

We have had an extremely busy week in school. The children enjoyed learning about family and friends. We based our week around this and have learnt about things such as what makes a good friend and who is in our family.

8th September

Welcome back to Kingsbury School!

During our first week back our topic has been All About Me. Some of the activities include identifying the initial sound of our name and decorating that sound and then writing our name. Other activities include learning about our body parts and labelling them.
