Autumn Term 2

Our theme this term is ‘Under Construction’. 

Week 8- This week, we have been enjoying finishing off making some Christmas crafts to take home. We have also enjoyed some scratch art. We had a trip out to Bents this week, where we looked at all the beautiful Christmas decorations. We also got to play in the huge sandpit which was great fun! We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and see you in 2024! 

Week 7- We’ve had a lovely Christmas week this week! We loved playing with the Brussels sprouts this week, using our fine motor skills to peel the leaves. We’ve all been practising writing our name in our Christmas cards which we are sending home next week. We’ve done lots of lovely Christmas crafts this week ready to send home. We did our Christmas performance this week infront of our families and did a great job! We ended the week with a lovely Christmas dinner with the whole school in the hall. Some of us even tried the roast dinner. We also enjoyed playing party games and some Christmas dancing with our friends. 

Forest School

Week 6- This week, we have carried on with our story ‘Cookies Christmas Invention’. We have been using different materials to create our own inventions. We have also enjoyed ‘present sorting’ using Cookies online game, where we had to follow the instructions to make sure we delivered the correct present to Santa. We also enjoyed a trip out on the bus to Applecast Farm. We had great fun feeding the animals! We’ve been busy starting some Christmas crafts this week. We ended the week with a trip to St Paul’s church, where we looked at the different Christmas trees and decorated biscuits, played instruments and did colouring activities. Thankyou for having us! 

Week 5- This week, we have been practising our writing skills using whiteboard pens to write different CVC words. We also enjoyed making ‘Christmas trees’ using just playdough and lolly sticks. This was quite a tricky challenge but we enjoyed it! We have also enjoyed playing out in the sensory playground in the icy weather. We enjoyed feeling the ice and some of us pretended to go ice skating. 

Forest School

Week 4- We have continued with our story ‘The Three Little Pigs’ this week. We have been retelling the story this week and have enjoyed acting out the different parts. We’ve also enjoyed some messy play with the toy pigs in jelly. We’ve been busy making the three different pig houses using bricks, straw and sticks. We have also been practising our independence and self help skills this week, as part of our personal care sessions. We’ve been practising brushing our teeth and learning why we need to brush our teeth. We have also enjoyed making our own fruit smoothies using our new blender which was donated by Sion’s parents! Thankyou again. 

Week 3- This week we started out story ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We have been learning about different types of houses and what materials they are made from, we also went on a community walk where we looked at different houses and talked about whether the ‘big bad wolf’ could blow them down. We have been using our senses this week to describe what different materials from the story felt like, using communication hairdos to support our language. We have also been working on our phonics, reading and writing different CVC words. We ended the week with our parent sensory/physical afternoon. Thankyou to all the parents who came. 

Forest School

Week 2- This week, we have been learning about Diwali and Remembrance Day. We learnt about what Remembrance Day is me shy people choose to wear a poppy. We have been practising our fine motor skills, cutting out different images to make our own poppy collage. We also enjoyed decorating biscuits to look like poppies. 

Week 1- This week, we have had a Halloween/Bonfire night themed week! We have enjoyed lots of sensory play with the pumpkins, using our fine motor skills to scoop out the seeds and enjoyed making ‘potions’ in the pumpkins. We have been playing lots of turn taking games this week including, wrapping each other in toilet paper like mummies and bobbing apples. We have also done lots of sensory cooking this week, including making chocolate apples, making edible sparklers out of breadsticks and our weekly life skill session making pasta. We have been making spider webs this week out of wool and paper plates, practising our fine motor skills by threading the wool in and out of the holes. We have also been working on our reading skills this week, looking at some different halloween themed CVC words and some of us had a go at some bonfire night sentences, working on our comprehension skills.
