Family Support
Supporting families at Kingsbury begins when they first look around the school. We recognise that considering a special school can be a daunting process so aim to spend time with families with visits and telephone conversations so that they can gather the information they need to help them make this important decision.
Prior to a child starting at Kingsbury we offer a home visit so that we have as much information as possible about the child, and to explain aspects of Kingsbury life so that families know how we will communicate with them, and how they can contact us.
Through use of Evidence for Learning families receive frequent updates about their child’s progress and we welcome feedback about how the child is getting on at home.
Parents are always welcome to contact school over any aspect of their child’s education, care, behaviour or indeed any aspect of their life! Within school we have a wealth of knowledge and have worked with many parents to “trouble shoot” issues they are having at home. Often sharing strategies that we use in school for behaviour and communication is really helpful for families.
We also hold coffee mornings in school where parents can get together for a chat, or have a speaker to talk about a specific issue that they want to find out more about.
As a special school we work with many other agencies, and can also support families by signposting them to other professionals who may also be able to assist them.
Parents who would like additional support can send a message via either edulink or the school mobile.
