Why SEND children can be more vulnerable 

Children with SEND may face additional safeguarding risks because they may:

• Have communication differences.
• Find it difficult to recognise unsafe situations.
• Depend on adults for support and personal care.
• Experience social isolation.
• Be less likely to report abuse.
• Struggle to understand that what is happening is wrong.

How we keep children Safe at Kingsbury

There are many ways Kingsbury tries to empower our children. For example, we create intimate care plans and document children's personal care so that staff are safe and accountable. Another example is our Total Communication Approach. We have a number of communication tools we use with the children, such as our fringe board for children to tell us how they're feeling, and where on their body they are hurt, to give them more autonomy to speak to us.
