Aimed at pupils with complex autism who benefit from experiential, play-based learning, this pathway focuses on developing foundational skills in communication, social interaction, and daily living. Pupils take part in practical activities that encourage exploration, problem solving, and early literacy and numeracy concepts in real-life contexts. For example, pupils might engage in cooking to develop sequencing skills and communication or explore the environment to enhance curiosity and attention. Social skills and emotional regulation are key components, with structured routines and personalised targets to build confidence and independence. The curriculum is flexible, allowing pupils to progress at their own pace while fostering curiosity, resilience, and positive self-esteem.
