We've been awarded Silver!

There are some achievements that feel particularly special because they reflect not just what we do, but who we are. We're therefore incredibly proud to share that Kingsbury has been awarded the Silver LOtC Mark by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, recognising our commitment to providing high-quality learning outside the classroom opportunities for our pupils.

At Kingsbury, we believe that learning doesn't just happen at a desk. Some of the most powerful moments take place around a campfire, whilst exploring nature, creating, investigating, problem-solving or simply experiencing the world beyond the classroom walls. These experiences help our pupils grow in confidence, develop independence and resilience, support their wellbeing and engage with learning in meaningful and memorable ways. The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom highlights that high-quality learning outside the classroom can raise attainment and aspirations, support health and wellbeing, and help young people develop into well-rounded citizens.

This award celebrates the journey we have been on to embed outdoor learning into school life, but it also gives us a wonderful opportunity to recognise one very special member of staff.

Quite simply, we could not have achieved this without Ruth of the Forest, our Forest School and Outdoor Learning Lead.

Over the last few years, Ruth has worked tirelessly to develop and transform our outdoor learning provision. Her passion for helping children connect with the outdoors shines through in everything she does. From continually enhancing our Forest School environment to creating new opportunities for pupils to learn beyond the classroom, her dedication has been at the heart of this achievement.

One of Ruth's most significant contributions has been the development of our Wild Classroom resources. These outdoor learning packs allow classes to take lessons outside and make meaningful use of our outdoor spaces throughout the school day, not just during Forest School sessions. As a result, outdoor learning is no longer something that happens occasionally; it has become an integral part of the Kingsbury experience.

The improvements Ruth has championed have helped create a culture where learning beyond the classroom is valued across the whole school. This is exactly what the Silver LOtC Mark celebrates: schools that are committed to providing meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom across the curriculum.

We are immensely grateful for Ruth's vision, determination and hard work. This recognition is a testament to the countless hours she has invested, the ideas she has brought to life and the difference she has made for our pupils every single day.

As proud as we are of achieving the Silver LOtC Mark, what matters most is what it represents: more opportunities for our children to explore, discover, thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Congratulations, Ruth, and thank you for everything you have done to make outdoor learning such a special part of life at Kingsbury. This achievement belongs to you, and to every pupil who has learned, grown and flourished in our outdoor spaces.
