Head Teacher's End of Year Message

As we reflect on the past year, we are incredibly grateful to be leading such a remarkable school filled with incredible people. Kingsbury is a special place because of its wonderful children, dedicated staff and supportive families, all working together to create the very best opportunities for every child.

As a Senior Leadership Team, we will always do our very best to ensure every child thrives. We know that nobody is perfect, and there will be times when we could have done things differently. When that happens, we will always acknowledge it, learn from it and continue to improve. Openness, reflection and growth are values that sit at the heart of everything we do.

One of the privileges of being a Headteacher is the opportunity to visit other schools, work with colleagues across the sector and share best practice. It is during these visits that I am often reminded just how special Kingsbury is. While there is excellent work taking place in many schools, I regularly come away feeling proud that here at Kingsbury we are paving the way for incredible things.

This year, all of our teachers undertook research projects focused on outdoor learning and presented their findings to the whole staff team. The professionalism, creativity and commitment demonstrated throughout the project were inspiring. We are already using these findings to further develop opportunities for outdoor learning across the school and are beginning to explore the exciting possibility of a fully outdoor class in the future.

Better communication with families

• Teachers will be making regular phone calls every couple of weeks to check in with families.

• Our Family Support Worker, Chloe, is now in post, providing early help and home support alongside our pastoral team.

• Home-school communication is personalised and comes directly from teachers or Level 3 staff

More parent evenings focused on academic progress

• We will be introducing Parent Evenings in both the Autumn and Spring terms.

• Summer reports continue to provide a detailed overview of progress and achievements.

• Children's voice and parental views on targets at Annual Reviews.

Children to be stretched and challenged in their learning

• We have introduced new assessment systems to better understand and celebrate progress.

• Our curriculum has been fully mapped and sequenced and will be shared with parents.

• We have implemented Read Write Inc. as our phonics programme to support early reading development.

• From September, all children will have reading journals and home reading books to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

As another successful year draws to a close, I would like to thank every member of the Kingsbury community for their continued support. Whether you are a parent, carer, member of staff, governor or one of our wonderful children, you all play an important role in making Kingsbury the school it is today.

Together we have celebrated achievements, overcome challenges and created countless memorable moments. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved this year and excited about all that lies ahead.

Thank you for your trust, your support and your partnership. Most importantly, thank you for sharing your amazing children with us each day. It is a privilege to be part of their journey.
