    Outdoor Learning

At Kingsbury, we recognise that being outdoors is good for us all and we make the most of the outdoors, every day, come rain or shine. We recognise the children’s entitlement to be outdoors and as such we support the children to embrace the outdoors, providing outdoor learning opportunities each day which are fully embedded in our curriculum. When we are outdoors, we encouraged the children to build on their skills to work collaboratively, problem solve together and learn to share. When learning outdoors, our children have more freedom to express themselves, be more active and self-regulate. The uneven surfaces promote the development of fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and balance. We work hard to keep our outdoors well maintained and accessible for all, so we can all enjoy the outdoors now and in the future. As we spend time outside and learn about nature, we learn how to respect it.

    Forest School

Forest School is an opportunity for children to play, explore and learn in our purpose-built space within the school grounds. Forest School offers a unique educational experience that offers children to succeed, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment. Motivating and engaging learning experiences are tailored to the needs of the child and their developmental stage. Our children experience Forest School throughout the year, through all seasons. Our thematic approach develops the children’s understanding of nature through stories, songs, and role play. The children are challenged to develop life skills and develop a sense of self through motivating and engaging learning experiences such as planting, tool work and fire starting.
